Breweries and bottle shops in North West

Manchester and Liverpool sit at the heart of the North West's brewing scene, though plenty of the interesting stuff happens well away from either city centre. Old mill buildings and railway arches across Greater Manchester have filled with small breweries over the years, and Liverpool's dock-adjacent warehouses do much the same job on the Mersey side.

Further out, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria each have their own quieter scene, from village breweries near the Lake District fells to family firms that have been going for generations. Traditional cask ale still matters a great deal here, but keg and can culture has grown fast alongside it, and it's common to find both on the same bar. Real reductions get pulled onto this page as soon as they appear on a brewery or shop's pages, sitting next to their full range rather than apart from it. Bottle shops cluster around the bigger cities, with a scattering further out in market towns and along the coast. It's a region with a lot of ground to cover, from the Wirral to the Yorkshire border, so what counts as a good find will differ depending on whether you're browsing from a Manchester postcode or somewhere out near Kendal.
