West Walls sits on the West Walls in the centre of Carlisle and calls itself a proper hidden gem. Brewing, pouring and serving all happen under one roof, so the pint in the taproom has travelled about ten feet. Small batch, hand-crafted, and easy to find once you know.

West Walls set up in a former Carlisle nightclub that had sat empty for seventeen years after closing in 2007, reopening in June 2024 following a nine-month renovation. It's the work of lifelong friends Joe and Fergus, who learned to brew at Borderlands Brewery before starting their own small-batch, hand-crafted operation: one where the taproom is the heart of the business, not a bolt-on. Twelve taps pour their freshest beers alongside top UK craft guests, plus four real ale hand pulls rotating weekly. The core range includes Express Yourself, Texas Sun, Too Easy and Gold Fool.
