Brewery
Heywood, North West
Founded by Tony Allen in 1982 as Oak Brewery, the business moved from Ellesmere Port to the historic Phoenix Brewery in Heywood nine years later. Today, it continues to brew Tony’s classic beers alongside innovative new releases, while celebrating a brewing heritage dating back to 1874.
Six classics make up Phoenix's year-round line-up, from Phoenix IPA and West Coast IPA through to Porter, Flight, Arizona and the boozier Wobbly Bob. One of their core beers is "a beautifully balanced brew with rich malt flavours, lifted by bright aromas of tropical fruit & fresh flowers", while another is pitched as "the ultimate light and refreshing, easy drinking blonde ale". Beyond the core range they venture into specials too: a Festive Chocolate Stout, a recipe pulled from "our Phoenix Archive", and their "first ever collab cans". Something for the classics drinker and the curious alike.
