Breweries and bottle shops in Wales

Wales does not do things by halves when it comes to landscape, and its beer follows suit. Valleys that once ran on coal and steel sit a short drive from a coastline that turns properly wild in places, and both ends of that spread have their own brewing character: old industrial towns where small breweries have moved into former chapels and warehouses, and coastal and rural spots where a shed or a farm outbuilding does the job just as well. Cardiff and the south Wales valleys carry a strong independent scene of their own, while mid and north Wales, right up towards Snowdonia and the Llyn peninsula, tend to be quieter but no less serious about what they're doing. Welsh-language branding shows up often enough to be part of the character rather than a gimmick. Bottle shops have followed a similar path, with a handful of small, fiercely independent stockists now doing for shelves what the breweries do for taps. This page rounds up who we're watching across Wales, brewers and stockists alike, plus whatever discounts are genuinely live right now.
