Bragdy Mantle is a family-run micro brewery making Welsh real ales from the picturesque market town of Cardigan, right on the border of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. The name works in both languages, which feels about right for a brewery that wears its Welshness plainly rather than making a marketing point of it.
Mantle brew Rocksteady (3.8%), a golden session ale with good depth of flavour; Moho (4.3%), a robust and aromatic Welsh pale ale; and Cwrw Teifi (4.5%), a full-bodied malt-driven best bitter with a balanced hop finish. Others come and go alongside them, including Hwyl Haf, Seiclon, a single-hop beer with subtle fruit hop bitterness over a deep malt base, and Strata.
