Breweries and bottle shops in and around Liverpool

Liverpool doesn't do quiet, and the drinking here follows suit. Converted dock warehouses share the map with terraced corner pubs a few streets back from the water, and the weather rolling in off the Mersey somehow makes both feel like exactly the right place for a pint. This page doesn't stop sharply at the city boundary either, because that isn't how people here actually go looking for a decent bottle shop. It follows brewers and stockists out along the river, over towards the Wirral, up past Bootle and Crosby and on towards Southport, since that whole stretch tends to get lumped together in most people's heads anyway. The view changes fast on that drive too, dockside brick giving way to seafront promenade within half an hour. Liverpool has a long-standing habit of turning old industrial buildings into somewhere worth an evening, and its brewing scene fits that pattern without much effort. Expect variety rather than one dominant style, expect prices that shift noticeably by postcode, and expect new names to keep turning up whether or not anyone's paying attention. Worth casting the net a bit wider than the obvious central streets if you're after something particular rather than whatever's nearest to hand.
