Tartarus Beers brew small batch craft beer with a mythical edge from their base in Sheepscar, just outside Leeds city centre. Expect small runs and a bit of imagination in what turns up on tap or in the shop. If you like your beer with a story behind it, they are worth seeking out.
Look out for Wolpertinger Helles Lager (4.0%), a clean take on a Bavarian-style lager; Thriae Micro IPA (3.4%), a low-strength hoppy pour; and King Arthur Barley Wine (13.2%), a proper big one for sipping slowly. All three come in 440ml cans. It's a small, characterful range, with a bit of folklore baked into every name on the can.
