Named for Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds, where Cistercian monks were brewing as far back as 1152: a lineage this brewery openly draws inspiration from rather than claims as its own. A neat bit of provenance for a modern Leeds brewery to have in its back pocket.
Kirkstall's modern brewery started out importing beers like Sierra Nevada and Stone before setting up on its own in 2011. Their core range runs from session stuff like the Virtuous Aromatic Session IPA and Judicious Juicy Pale through to a West Coast IPA (Spokane), a Black Band Porter and an unfiltered Pilsner. Alongside that sits the Revival Series, a separate run of beers including a Tiramisu-inspired pale and a dry stout, kept distinct from the everyday line-up.
