The Mighty Oak Brewing Company was founded in 1996 by John Boyce, relocating from Hutton to Maldon, Essex in 2001. Its Oscar Wilde dark mild won CAMRA's Supreme Champion Beer of Britain in 2011. Beer is sold from the brewery for collection, alongside Captain Bob amber ale, Gorgeous George bitter and Maldon Gold golden ale.
Mighty Oak has been brewing award-winning beers in Maldon, Essex since 1996: thirty years and counting. The range runs properly deep: Captain Bob, Cascade IPA, Gorgeous George, Jake the Snake, Kings, Maldon Gold, Old Man & The Sea and Oscar Wilde, among others. That's a lot of ground covered, from IPA to more traditional English styles, all brewed by a proper Essex stalwart with three decades of practice behind it. Worth exploring if you want a brewery with real staying power.
