Established in 1760, shut down by a bigger brewer in the 1960s, and reclaimed in 2013, at which point they rang the National Yeast Bank and woke up eight original Lacons yeast strains that had been asleep for nearly fifty years. Those strains are still in every beer they make.
Lacons trace their brewing back over a century: the site's own line is that even Nelson's men were drinking their beer in the 18th century. Names on the shelf include Encore, Legacy and Affinity, the last a golden ale. There's a Heritage Range too: strong beers inspired by recipes dating back as far as 1866, a nod to that older history rather than an everyday pour.
