Brewery
Braintree, East of England
A sixth-generation Essex brewing family picking up where they left off. The original Ridley brewery on the River Chelmer ran for 163 years before closing in 2005; Nelion Ridley started Bishop Nick in 2011 and moved it to Braintree in 2013. The name comes from a 16th-century Bishop of London.
Bishop Nick are sixth generation family brewers based in Braintree, Essex, with a regular line-up of six "uncompromising ales" (a pale ale (3.6%), golden (4%), amber (4.3%), premium (5.1%), American IPA (4.5%) and craft lager (4.8%)) plus a bold, alcohol-free pale ale brewed with US hops. Beyond that core range sits a rotating seasonal cast: Revelry 26 (deep gold, 4.3%), Harlequin (amber, 4%), Hop Cross (blond, 3.8%), Forge (copper, 4.3%), Scrum (golden, 4.2%), Rejoice (deep copper, 5.6%), Devout (stout, 4.5%) and Charter (ruby, 4.4%).
