Established in 2011 by Claire Monk, who runs the place as both general manager and brewster. The microbrewery sits at the heart of an artisan village turning out specialist food and crafts, which makes it a rather more interesting stop than the average industrial-estate brewery.
Welbeck Abbey brew cask beer from the Welbeck estate in north Nottinghamshire, with names including Cavendish, Atlas, Red Feather, Skylight and White Stag (4.3%). Seasonal and limited-edition casks come and go as they're brewed, Cocoa Noel (5.5%) and Santa Baby (5.2%) among them, so it's worth keeping an eye out for one you've not tried.
