Isle of Purbeck Brewery

Studland, South West

Isle of Purbeck was established in 2003 by husband and wife team Jack and Pippa Lightbown. They brew at the Bankes Arms in Studland, Dorset, a National Trust inn dating back to the early 1800s that Jack's family ran before him. Brewery and pub in the same spot, which is a fine arrangement.

Isle of Purbeck Brewery launched its first beer, Fossil Fuel, with guidance from master brewer Dan Thomasson. They keep five core beers on the go: Fossil Fuel with its peppery hop aroma, the clean, refreshing Solar Power, and a smooth-malted Purbeck IPA among them, alongside Harry's Harvest Pale Ale and Studland Bay Wrecked. There are seasonal beers too, including a Winter Warmer mixed case. Everything's made by hand the traditional way, with live yeast and hand-balanced hops, barley and malt.

Free local delivery to most of the BH postcode area, with deliveries every Thursday and Friday; order early in the week to have it for the weekend. Collection from the brewery is usually available the following day, subject to stock.
