Brewery
Derby, East Midlands
Rachel Matthews got there via thirty-five test brews at home and a spell at Blue Monkey, launching in Derby in December 2010 with three beers (Ay Up, 22 and Gold) just in time for Christmas. Her partner Ian, a brewery design engineer, came in shortly after.
Dancing Duck's core beers span a proper flavour map: Dark Drake is a velvety oatmeal stout with malt, caramel and liquorice, Ay Up a pale session ale with floral, citrus hops, Nice Weather 4 Ducks a fruity copper ale with blackberry and strawberry, and 22 a malty best bitter with dark fruit and a strong hop finish. Elsewhere there's a full-on hop attack, a tropical, hoppy IPA and a New World pale ale built on five different hop varieties. They're multi award-winning and don't take themselves too seriously, with a seasonal/special release lineup alongside the core range.
UK-wide delivery is available: £14.50 for packs of 12 bottles, minikegs and certain other items. Local home delivery within their map area is £3 with a £20 minimum order. No free-delivery threshold.
