Bristol-born and brewing since well before anyone was calling it craft beer; they are quite pleased about the timing, and fairly say so. Now part of a wider pubs and inns group across the south of England, with the beer sold through a separate shop from the hospitality side.
Butcombe has been brewing in Bristol since Simon Whitmore founded it in late summer 1978, and the team describe themselves as an eclectic bunch of passionate people staying true to their beliefs and Bristolian roots. Names include Butcombe Original, Gold, a true Bristol sunset in a bottle, and Rare Breed Pale Ale.
Collection from the brewery is available Wednesday to Friday, 10am–5pm.
