Wylam Brewery was founded in 2000 by John Boyle and Robin Leighton, who developed their first recipes in a potting shed in the village of Wylam, Northumberland, with the first brew, Landlord's Choice, launched at The Boathouse. The brewery moved in 2016 to the Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park, Newcastle, the last remaining building from the 1929 North East Exhibition, and merged with hospitality group Vaulkhard in January 2024.
Wylam Brewery run a proper broad range, split into core keg beers (both standard/ongoing and limited edition) and core cask beers, with plenty besides, from Jakehead and Macchiato through to Veer Towards Chaos. Look out for the Supercharged India Pale Ale if you fancy something punchier, or the Hazelnut Praline Coffee Porter for something richer and more indulgent. For a lighter session, there's an extra-light session pale brewed with New World hops. A proper big list, with something for most moods.
