The story starts in a Canadian brewpub, takes in a garage in Christchurch, and ends up in an old dairy in Kelso. Gavin and Annika nearly opened a brewery in New Zealand before deciding the Scottish borders were a better fit, and set up a ten-barrel kit there in early 2010.

Tempest Brewing Co's beers run the gamut from crushable lagers and sours to hoppy IPAs and big barrel-aged brews. There's a Core Range to fall back on, alongside a Fresh Off The Canning Line section for newer releases: names that have turned up there include Fruit Loop, Shape Shifter, Sun Dance, Daisy Age, Raisu and Sir Veillance. The specific beers making up the core range aren't spelled out on the site, but the spread of styles on offer gives a good feel for what they're about.
