Southwark Brewing Company was founded in 2014 by Peter Jackson and Andy Nichol, with recipes for LPA, Bermondsey Best and Harvard developed with help from Sean Franklin, previously of Roosters Brewery. Early on it ran two labels, traditional Courage SE1 ales and craft-focused Big Bear, before bringing everything under one name. It runs a taproom on Druid Street, Bermondsey.
Southwark sum themselves up as modern recipes, traditionally brewed - and their range backs that up. There's Routemaster Red, a 4.2% amber ale, alongside LPA London Pale Ale at 4.0% and Bermondsey Best Bitter at 4.4%. Round that out with Mayflower Session IPA, Bankside Blonde and Southwark Pilsner Lager, and you've got a proper spread of styles from an outfit clearly happy sticking to the classics while doing them well.
