Mount Saint Bernard is a Cistercian Trappist monastery near Coalville in Leicestershire, and Mount St Bernard Brewery is where the monks brew Tynt Meadow English Trappist Ale, from a small purpose-built facility inside the Abbey itself. About as far from a typical craft brewery as you will find.
This is a one-beer brewery, but what a beer: Tynt Meadow, an English Trappist ale brewed by the monks at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey as a modern revival of ales once made there long ago. It's described as rich and velvety, made with water drawn from the abbey's own well and sustainably sourced local ingredients, with bottle fermentation overseen by the monks themselves. They now produce over 1,000 hectolitres a year, shipping across the UK, Europe and North America through their own shop, UK stockists and trade customers.
