Hop Kettle Brewing Co. was founded by Tom Gee, who bought the Red Lion Inn in Cricklade in 2008. The first brewery began in a barn in the pub garden in 2012, and a larger brewery followed in Swindon in 2015. The Red Lion was later sold, but the brewery grew on, adding tap rooms in Cirencester and, in October 2023, at Gloucester Food Dock.
