A family business going back more than two hundred years, run by the Elgood family since 1878. Nigel Elgood was managing director from 1968 to 2002; his eldest daughter has the job now, with two siblings on the board. Generations deep, and still very much theirs.
Elgood's brew a range of fine ales throughout the year, with their regular permanent beers also available in bottles alongside a seasonal range that complements the core line-up. Cambridge Bitter is the multi-award winning flagship: malty and fruity with a satisfying bitter finish. Light Amber Bitter balances malt and hop for an easy session pint, and Black Dog, a traditional mild with a full roast flavour, has picked up plenty of CAMRA awards in its own right. Beers to suit every palate, from dark and brooding to light and airy.
