Brewery
Edinburgh, Scotland
An Edinburgh nano-brewery run by two women and a very small dog, making vegan beer with no lactose and no fish-derived finings. Unapologetically queer and deliberately independent; they avoid supermarket distribution as a matter of choice.
Closet Brewing started exactly where the name suggests: Lucy and Lizzie Stevens, a married couple, began home-brewing in their Edinburgh flat's closet as a cheap way to make new friends. It moved to the garage during the pandemic, became a formal two-woman venture in 2021, and launched publicly as Closet Brewing Project in 2022 from a licensed residential brewery. They dropped the 'Project' in 2023, and in 2025 relocated to a shared industrial unit now producing 2,000-3,000 litres a month. Beers include Brass Rings, Pigeon English and More Berries Than Sense, all vegan, and sold only through local bars and bottleshops.
