Lerwick Brewing Company

Established in 2012, Lerwick is a family-run brewery dedicated to brewing high-quality, unique beers. It was started by three brothers who grew up in Shetland, and Jonny Sandison is head brewer these days. Being up in Lerwick makes them about as far north as UK brewing goes.

As the UK's most northerly brewery, Lerwick brew traditional beer styles with a Shetland twist. 60° North Shetland Lager was their first ever release and remains their best known: a Great Taste Gold Star winner in 2014. Skipper's Ticket Pale Ale blends three hop nationalities for a nutty, spiced profile, while Tushkar Oatmeal Stout, another Great Taste Gold Star winner (2015), is smooth and sweet from Scottish oats. There's also the hoppy, fruity Lerwick IPA and the floral, elderflower-tinged Azure Hoppy Light Ale, plus cask specials like Vaelensi and Blindside Black IPA.
