BRULO was founded in 2019 by James Brown, who set out with one simple goal: to brew seriously good beer that never holds you back. It is an Edinburgh-based outfit making alcohol-free beer from scratch rather than stripping the booze out afterwards.
Brulo make seven non-alcoholic craft beers, every one 0.5% ABV: Lust For Life, 7 Hop 7 Grain and All Good (all IPAs), King For A Day (a NEIPA), Highway To Helles (a lager), Cascadian Tides (a stout) and Five Fruit (a gose). Their philosophy is blunt: they never take the alcohol out, they never put it in, and they binned hundreds of recipes that tasted like a substitute for something else. Best seller is the Discovery Mixed Case, six styles across twelve cans. The Guardian called them the Rolls-Royce of alcohol-free beer, and they picked up two gold stars at the Great Taste Awards 2026.
