Independent pub · Leeds
Whitelock's Ale House in Leeds describes itself as the oldest public house in the city, and says it was first founded in 1715 as The Turk's Head. It sits in an alleyway just off Briggate, with a Grade II* listed interior, a real fire and a large beer garden. Real ales and craft beers are the focus, with Five Points beers alongside Yorkshire breweries such as Timothy Taylor's, Theakston, Northern Monk, Kirkstall and Ilkley. The pub says it has featured in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 41 of the 47 years it has been published, and that it is Cask Marque certified. Food is home-cooked, and dogs and children are welcome.
