Independent pub · London
The Uxbridge Arms is a back-street local in Kensington, a world away from nearby Portobello Road. It dates from 1836 as a beer house, and CAMRA lists its interior as of special national historic interest, with inter-war fittings including two rooms and fireplaces. Two good-quality ales should normally be available; changing beers typically include Black Sheep Blonde, Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter and Purity Pure Gold. The pub describes itself as the most welcoming in W8. Live music is on Tuesdays and a quiz on Sundays. All sports are shown, and dogs are welcome. Irish stew is a menu highlight.
