Independent pub · London
The Prospect of Whitby is a Grade II listed riverside pub in Wapping, on the edge of the Thames. The pub says it was built in 1520 and is the oldest riverside tavern in the country. Its original flagstone floor survives, and the ancient pewter-topped bar, supported by old barrels, carries six hand pumps. Guest ales are usually from local breweries, and changing beers typically include Southwark, St Austell Tribute and Twickenham. There is a beer garden and a riverside balcony upstairs. Dogs are welcome, and the pub says it is wheelchair accessible.
