Independent pub · London
The Hero is a pub at 55 Shirland Road in Maida Vale, London, across four floors. It was built in 1878 as the Shirland Hotel, and the name recalls the Battle of Maida. The ground-floor pub has a zinc-topped bar and a fireplace, with the beers advertised on chalkboards. Its beer and cider list includes Portobello Pils, Allsopp's Pale Ale, Verdant Lightbulb and Thornbridge Brother Rabbit. Upstairs are a grill room and a cocktail bar. Dogs are welcome on the ground floor.
