Independent pub · Guildford
Anchor & Horseshoes sits in Burpham, 2.6 miles out of Guildford town centre, and describes itself as a historic 18th century pub. The building is thought to be 17th or early 18th century, with records showing use as a pub from 1785. Real ales are on the bar, with Greene King Abbot and St Austell Tribute as regulars plus two changing beers. The large single bar is split into three areas, and historic pictures of Guildford hang on the walls. Food runs from pub grub and weekly specials to a pizza oven and Sunday roasts, with veggie options too. Behind the pub is a large garden with a heated marquee and covered areas. Well behaved dogs are welcome inside and in the garden. Quiz nights, open mic nights and live music feature, and big sporting events are shown on the screens.
