Independent pub · London
The Adam & Eve is on Homerton High Street in Hackney, three minutes on foot from Homerton Overground on the Mildmay line. A pub has stood on the site since at least 1735; the tiled front carries a 1915 date and a large relief of Adam and Eve. Inside, rich wood panelling and cosy corners survive, and the main drinking area wraps around a long circular bar. Cask ale is served, though it may not always be available. Food comes from Seouls of Mischief, a Korean burger and wings residency. DJs play dub, disco, post-punk and soul every Friday and Saturday, and live sport is shown on six screens and a large projector. Out the back is a covered beer garden. There are two pool tables, one of them L-shaped, plus darts and a photobooth. Dogs are welcome throughout. There are steps at the entrance and no accessible toilet.
