It calls itself one of Edinburgh's finest historic public houses, restored to its original condition, with a teak exterior, oak bar, panelled interior and stained glass windows. It is family owned. CAMRA rates its interior as of very special national historic interest, and the pub carries a Good Beer Guide listing. Regular cask beers include Timothy Taylor Landlord and Fyne Ales Jarl, with changing guests alongside.
