Independent pub · Nottingham
The Johnson Arms is a traditional family-friendly pub in Dunkirk, Nottingham, opposite the Queen's Medical Centre and not far from the university. It says the pub has stood beside the river Leen since it was the Abbey Tavern in the 1860s, and was renamed in 1904. Cask ale is a focus, and the pub says its pumps have included Shipstone's Gold Star, Original, IPA and Mild. It also offers world lagers, wines and cocktails. There is a tucked-away rear garden, a weekly quiz and live music, and the venue says it is free to hire at weekends.
